Data transparency

Data sources and licences

Behind Your Day builds its own estimation model from public statistics. It does not republish large raw datasets; it publishes only calculated coefficients and results.

Estimation limits

How version 1 uses the amount

The model first uses prices and exchange rates associated with the amount's displayed currency to convert it to the 2022 data basis, then maps 28 purchase items in 8 areas of life to global industry data. Changing the purchase region does not relabel an amount already entered. Within the same purchase region, item and currency, the amount and attributed work time have a linear relationship: doubling the amount doubles the estimate.

This estimates labour allocated to consumption demand in an economic model. It does not identify brand premiums, rent, profit, quality or the actual production process. The likely range reflects category variation and some missing data, but does not cover every possible error. Each saved record keeps the result created at that time; future model updates do not rewrite or remove older records.

Important

An independent Behind Your Day estimate

All source data is filtered, combined, gap-filled and modelled rather than directly republished. Behind Your Day creates the life-category mappings, uncertainty ranges and final results. They do not represent official views of the OECD, ILO, World Bank, United Nations or any government, and no endorsement is implied.

The ICIO raw snapshot was obtained through a third-party mirror because the official automated download endpoint was unavailable. Neither this website nor the planned public GitHub project redistributes that raw file. Public outputs contain only a derived model made under the OECD data terms; source hashes and processing records remain in the project.
